Straight Arrow News (SAN) is a digital news outlet dedicated to unbiased, fact-based journalism. I produced a high-energy, 30 second App Store promotional video designed to showcase the app’s unique interface and core mission: Welcome back to trustworthy journalism.

The Brief:

The App Store is a crowded marketplace. SAN needed a promo that immediately differentiated it from standard news aggregators. The goal was to take five complex value propositions and visualize them in a way that felt intuitive and fast-paced.
Key Features to Highlight:

The Brand Promise: Reclaiming trust in journalism through transparency.

The Media Landscape: Visualizing the political bias of every story.

Customization: Showing how users follow only the updates and topics they care about.

The Solution:

To capture the user’s attention within the first three seconds, I focused on polished animations that simulate the actual user experience while elevating the brand’s visual identity.

Snappy Pacing: With a 30-second limit, every frame had to work. I used rhythmic cuts and bold typography to hammer home the Trustworthy Journalism message while showcasing the app’s topic-based customization.

Dynamic UI Walkthrough: Instead of static screenshots, I used smooth, kinetic movements to move through the app’s interface. This helps potential users understand the navigation before they even download the app.

Visualizing the Media Landscape: The standout feature of SAN is the ability to see where a story falls on the political spectrum. I used motion to emphasize this Media Landscape, turning a data-heavy feature into a simple concept.

Results

Optimized for ASO: The 30-second format was tailored specifically for App Store and Google Play guidelines to maximize conversion from view to install.

Brand Clarity: Successfully distilled a complex editorial philosophy (unbiased news) into a tangible feature-set.

Feature Awareness: Users entered the app already understanding how to use the Media Landscape and customization tools, reducing the learning curve.
